  • Candy Tumble Dryer Safety Recall: What Consumers Need to Know

Recent news has highlighted a safety issue affecting certain Candy tumble dryers, part of the Haier group. Thousands of built-in heat pump tumble dryers manufactured between 2019 and 2025 have been found to carry a fire risk due to manufacturing inconsistencies. At Glotech Repairs, we advise homeowners across London, Surrey, Hertfordshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire, and nationwide to take such warnings seriously. A professional engineer can inspect appliances to ensure safety and prevent accidents.

What Appliances Are Affected?

The recall primarily covers specific Candy-branded heat pump tumble dryers, but it also extends to some models sold under Haier, Hoover, and Baumatic. Homeowners should check their appliance’s 16-digit serial number against the manufacturer’s recall list.

Safety Precautions You Should Take

  • Stop Using the Dryer: If your model is affected, switch it off immediately.
  • Check Serial Numbers: Verify whether your appliance is part of the recall.
  • Contact the Manufacturer: Follow instructions to arrange a repair or replacement.
  • Schedule a Professional Inspection: Booking a Glotech engineer ensures your dryer is thoroughly checked and any hidden risks are addressed.

Quick Tips for All Dryer Users

  • Always clean filters after each cycle.
  • Ensure vents and ducts are free of blockages.
  • Avoid leaving dryers running unattended for long periods.
  • Keep flammable materials away from the appliance.

    Hi there,

There are actually two different Candy recalls to be aware of, depending on the type of appliance.

    1. Recent recall (most common) – Heat pump tumble dryers

This is the current UK-wide safety recall affecting built-in heat pump tumble dryers made roughly between 2019–2025 due to a potential fire risk.

Candy models confirmed as affected include:

    CBTD H7A1TE-80/ (Product code 31900011)
    CTDB H7A1TBE-80/ (31900013)
    BCTD H7A1TBE-80 (31900526)
    BCTD H7A1TE-80 (31900529)
    BCTDH7A1TCEB-80 (31900537)
    BKTDH7A1TCEB-80 (31900538)

Important: This recall also affects other brands made by the same manufacturer (Hoover, Haier, etc.), and customers are advised to stop using the appliance immediately and arrange a safety modification if affected.

    2. Older recall – Washer dryers

There was also an earlier recall affecting specific Candy washer dryers:

    TC1000
    TC1244

This was due to a timer overheating issue, but it only applies to those exact models.

    Key advice

Because the recall is model and serial-number specific, the safest approach is:

Check the model + 16-digit serial number (usually inside the door)
Use the manufacturer’s safety checker or contact support

If you’re unsure, feel free to send over the model number and we can help confirm it for you.

    Kind regards,
    Glotech repairs
