samsung has problem with fridges & freezers

samsung electronics plan to implement a programme to visit the homes of customers to resolve an issue identified in certain now-discontinued rs21 and rs60 range of fridge freezers, manufactured between march 2005 & june 2006.

samsung electronics has decided to take this action after concluding that in a minority of cases the models’ defrost system may require repair to put right a defect in its assembly. in very rare cases, there is the potential for internal sparking to occur and in consequence, damage to the appliance.

in order to administer a solution as efficiently as possible, samsung electronics will provide a free in-home inspection and repair programme of all affected fridge freezers.

in addition as a precautionary measure, samsung will also include unaffected fridge freezers manufactured up to may 2008* which have a similar defrost system as a part of the programme for consumers’ safety and convenience. the products to be covered will be: rs21 and rs60’s (outside of the above dates of manufacture), rse8 (manufactured up to may 2009), sn62, rsh1 and rsj1.

samsung electronics’ proactive approach to implement this programme will include the following actions: provision of a dedicated web site (www.samsung.com/uk/homevisit) which will be available from friday 30th october 2009, where customers can identify if their samsung fridge freezer is included in the in home service programme customer ‘on-line’ registration facility to request their free of charge service inspection staggered mail shot directly to customers to advise them of the programme and to request they register additional contact details for samsung electronics to book their free of charge service inspection advertisements in national press to announce the programme the provision of a dedicated call centre to manage customer enquiries (tel: 0800 988 0123*). this will be fully operational from friday 30th october 2009. opening hours will be 9am to 9pm (mon-fri), and 9am to 6pm (sat-sun) the programme is scheduled to commence from 2nd november 2009.
